Eurocon Consulting AB
WINNER OF THE 2018 GOLDEN GAVEL – PRIVATE COMPANIES
The jury’s announcement
After several years as a member of the board, Marie Berglund became Chair of Eurocon Consulting AB in 2015. Eurocon is a fast growing and prosperous consultancy company focused primarily on innovative automation solutions, for example for the forestry industry.
As Chair of the Board, Marie has been a driving force for the continued rapid expansion of the business, both within existing markets and by expanding into new areas.
Building on her experience of board work in listed companies, she has also simultaneously steered the board towards a more professional approach, with greater emphasis on strategic issues, improved financial reporting and the introduction of an audit committee, all of which has resulted in a considerably more efficient board of directors.
With her relaxed personality, Marie Berglund creates an open and creative working climate in the Board without losing sight of the path towards clear decisions. All in all, her work is a fine example of strong chairing skills in a smaller, unlisted company.

Eurocon Consulting AB was founded in 1990 by seven engineers who yearned to make it on their own. Since then, they have grown and are now active in more industries than just forestry.
Today, Eurocon offers engineering and consulting services within forestry, energy, mining, chemicals, and food and pharmaceuticals manufacturing.
Common to all these areas is a focus is on automation solutions, accounting for more than half of Eurocon’s 240 employees. The forestry industry is by far the largest market, accounting for 64 per cent of Eurocon’s turnover, followed by chemicals, which makes up 10 per cent of turnover. In 2017, Eurocon was chosen as a key supplier in several projects, including the Östrand pulp mill, which was the biggest assignment in Eurocon’s history, a project that will run until the end of 2018. The company’s vision is to continue to grow and to continue its hitherto unbroken run of annual profitability. The growth target is set at 10 per cent per year and will be achieved through organic growth and acquisitions. This goal is also based on 2017 being a record year for turnover and he huge demand for innovation in the sectors in which Eurocon operates.
